Tom Holland's Spiderman will no longer be part of the MCU despite the box office success of the sequel to 'Homecoming'.

Although everything indicated that Jon Watts (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far from home) would direct two more deliveries of Tom Holland's Spiderman after the 'divorce' between Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios, it may not be So finally.

According to Deadline, Watts not only would not have signed neither for Spider-Man 3 nor for Spider-Man 4 but would even be negotiating with Marvel Studios for another completely different project. Although a new agreement could end up materializing in the future, Sony has been confident in continuing satisfactorily with the arachnid franchise without references to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In fact, Holland has recently promised that the Spider-Man universe will be "bigger and better", with new characters and even 'crossovers'.

The aforementioned medium publishes that Marvel Studios is testing Jon Watts for another of his projects, although he does not specify which one exactly. The filmmaker's contract with Sony Pictures tied him to the already released Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Spider-Man: Far from home (2019), while Tom Holland only has one more film left in his. Among other things, the director of Police Car is responsible for revitalizing the saga and Far from home is also, with 1,115 million dollars raised, Sony's highest-grossing tape - after exceeding 1,108 million Skyfall (2012).

Waiting to finalize Watts' next work and whether or not the discrepancies between Marvel and Sony continue about the financing and distribution of the benefits of Spider-Man, Phase 4 of Marvel Studios begins May 1, 2020, with Black Widow. Then the series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (in autumn 2020 at Disney +), Eternals (November 6, 2020), Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (February 12, 2021), WandaVision (in spring) will arrive 2021 at Disney +), Loki (in spring 2021 at Disney +), Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (May 7, 2021), What... If? (in the summer of 2021 at Disney +), Hawkeye (in the autumn of 2021 at Disney +) and Thor: Love and Thunder (November 5, 2021). During the D23 Expo, Disney has also announced the series Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk. For its part, Sony premieres Morbius on July 31, 2020, and Venom 2 on October 2 of that year - apart from the development of Kraven, Black Cat, Silver Sable, etc.
