Finn actor John Boyega says he disapproved of many of Rian Johnson's choices for "Star Wars 8" - and what he liked about "Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker."
In an interview with us, John Boyega said that in "Star Wars 8: The Last Jedi" Rian Johnson "really took risks and made interesting decisions." However, Boyega could already be interpreted as having been a fan of "Star Wars 8" and the storyline with his character Finn due to other, earlier utterances. This is also suggested by the comments he made on a portrait article to colleagues at Hypebeast.
"The Awakening of Power" was the beginning of something rather solid, 'The Last Jedi', frankly, felt a little doubtful to me. I did not necessarily agree with many of the decisions there and talked a lot about it with Mark Hamill. And it was hard for all of us because we were separated. "
What decisions Rian Johnson did not like, John Boyega did not say. But in the last sentence, it seems that he likes to see the heroes Rey, Finn, and Poe on different threads instead of in "Star Wars 8". This joint adventure will be in J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars 9: The Rise of Skywalker" experience.

John Boyega: "I guess the original 'Star Wars' movies had more of a trio feeling. It was mainly about Luke's trip, but there was a strong momentum between Han and Leia. I do not know how quickly we can develop this long-term momentum with 'Episode 9'. [...] I think we did not get to know the new trio after three films like Han, Luke, and Leia. But maybe 'Star Wars 9' is a great opportunity to get to know [the new ones] a bit better. "
That does not sound like John Boyega is convinced that Rey, Finn, and Poe will be the same after "Star Wars 9" as Luke, Han and Leia are after the original trilogy. But in any case, in "Star Wars 9: The Rise of Skywalker", they will go on a mission together, and certainly clash.
