Stan Lee's daughter about the breakup of Sony and Marvel: "No one could have treated my father worse than Disney and Marvel executives"

Joan Celia Lee has stated that she believes that her father's legacy deserves to have different points of view.

Fans of Marvel comics are still recovering from the break between Sony and Marvel Studios. In SensaCine we have already talked about what this dispute means for the future of Spider-Man on the big screen and one of the last to talk about what happened has been Joan Celia Lee, the daughter of Stan Lee.

The co-creator of Spider-Man passed away last November 2018 and, according to his daughter, his father's legacy should have different points of view. "Marvel and Disney seeking total control of my father's creations should be verified and balanced by others who, while still wanting to make a profit, show sincere respect for Stan Lee and his legacy," begins at TMZ. "Be it Sony or any other, the continuous evolution of Stan's characters and his legacy deserves to have different points of view."

Joan Celia Lee also highlighted in the same interview that Marvel Studios and Disney did not treat their father well:

When my father died, no one from Marvel or Disney contacted me. From day one, they have commercialized my father's work and never showed his legacy any respect or decency. In the end, nobody could have treated my father worse than Marvel and Disney executives

By his statements, Stan Lee's daughter seems to be on Sony's side in this dispute. The latest information on this break, Variety reports, says Sony was negotiating for Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, to continue in the Spider-Man franchise as a producer and consultant, but Disney refused when Sony decided not to let La Casa Mickey Mouse increase your profit percentage.

The aforementioned media indicates that, according to people close to these negotiations, the renovations began six months ago and Sony did not want to carry out a new agreement. Others with knowledge about this fact deny that this is the case and affirm that it was Disney that was no longer interested in continuing to work alongside Sony. In turn, other people claim that Sony was willing to give 25% of the franchise and welcome Disney as a financial partner in exchange for Feige's services. Disney refused. Apparently, after the failure of X-Men: Dark Phoenix, Disney wants Feige to be focused on the new era of Marvel Studios now that Mickey Mouse House has bought 20th Century Fox.

Anyway, Tom Holland's Spider-Man didn't seem to fit in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Away from home, the Spider-Man sequel put the finishing touch to Phase 3 of the franchise and the new era will begin with Black Widow. Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow's (Scarlett Johansson) solo film premieres in the United States on May 1, 2020 - still without a release date in Spain.
